In this example, KMI has modified the surface of standard HSS end mill tooling to reduce wear rates and increase useful tool life. In this particular application KMI was able to achieve up to a 5x increase in useful life. For every 5 tools used, our client now uses 1 tool for a significant cost savings. Testing per ISO 8688.

Improved Component Life

Mating Surfaces, Gearing, Bearings, etc

In this example KMI redesigned a manufacturing process to improve metal to metal wear.
Surfaces in motion can be influenced by abrasion, friction, adhesion, cohesion, erosion, corrosion, loading, etc., and are specific to your particular application.
KMI applied multi layered nano coatings to deliver increased hardness and to achieve a more uniform surface profile to reduce overall friction.
KMI can tailor a coating or a combination of layered coatings to solve your toughest challenges. Potential properties to improve may include hardness, lubricity, corrosion, oxidation, etc.
